Religious organisation donates to amputees

    ABIDJAN

    The World Islamic Call Society (WICS) has donated a consignment of food and drugs to the Aberdeen Amputee camp located in the capital Freetown. The recipients would benefit from a consignment which includes 150 bags of rice and other essential drugs, the Sierra Leone News Agency (SLENA) reported. WICS, which is a humanitarian organisation based in Libya, also plans to donate another consignment in March 2002, SLENA reported. Thousands of Sierra Leoneans lost limbs as a result of the 10-year war between the government and the Revolutionary United Front (RUF) rebels. Many were mutilated when RUF rebels deliberately cut off their limbs.
