The United States wants further talks with Ethiopia "on concrete actions and cooperation" in the war against terrorism, AFP quoted a White House spokesman, Ari Fleisher, saying on 5 October. US President George W. Bush proposed more discussions, in a telephone call to Ethiopian Prime Minister Menes Zenawi to thank him for expressing support against terrorism, and for a letter of condolence on the 11 September attacks. "Prime Minister Meles assured President Bush of support over the long haul of the campaign, said he understood the President’s strategy, and affirmed Ethiopia was ready to play its role," Fleisher said. Ethiopia is one of the members of the US-led coalition against terrorism.
