Vehicle sales drop

Vehicle sales in recession-hit Zimbabwe are expected to drop by 46 percent from the 1997 high of about 15,000 new vehicles sold, media reports said.

A cursory glance at the prices of new vehicles also revealed that very few Zimbabweans will be able to buy even the most basic car as prices have shot over the roof.

Motor industry sources were quoted as saying that vehicle sales dropped considerably last year to about 10,000 units and this was expected to drop further to not more than 7,000 units.
