Customs agents net largest drug haul

    ABIDJAN

    Senegalese customs agents have seized more than five mt of cannabis resin at the port of Dakar in their largest drug haul yet, PANA cited the official ‘Le Soleil’ daily newspaper as reporting on Friday.

    The drug, with an estimated street value of 27 billion CFA francs (US $37.5 million), was stuffed into 19,000 denim trousers in a container shipped from Morocco, the newspaper said. The consignment, it added, belonged to “an economic interest group of Senegalese and foreign nationals”. Police have taken in several people for questioning, PANA said, while others are on the run.
