Flooding in the south

    JOHANNESBURG
    Hundreds of residents at Mariental, about 258 km south of Windhoek, had to be evacuated at the weekend when their homes were flooded, 'The Namibian' said on Monday. The report said that flood waters swept in from the swollen Fish River which burst its banks after the sluice gates at the Hardap Dam were opened. It said that no deaths had been reported, but that phone lines were down and power supply to the area disrupted.
