Peace activists are meeting in the Angolan capital Luanda this week to launch a campaign for an immediate ceasefire and the opening of humanitarian corridors to deliver humanitarian aid to various parts of the country.
According to news reports the group includes church people, trade
unionists, human rights activists, journalists, and academics. The coalition is headed by the Angolan Group to Reflect on Peace is led by theologian, Pastor Daniel Ntoni-Nzinga. "I know my people well and I see how exhausted they are with war. In villages and cities, people from all walks of life want to do something to stop this madness," he was quoted as saying. He added: "This is an important determination for the Angolan
people."
