Heavy rain kills three, many homeless

Heavy rain in central Senegal has killed at least three people and made many homeless, news organisations reported officials as saying on Saturday. According to a paramilitary gendarme, at least three people have been registered as killed and many houses, mainly mud huts, were destroyed by the heavy rain, Reuters reported. The private newspaper 'Walfadjiri' reported that around 30,000 people were made homeless in the worst affected region around Kaolack, some 200 km southeast of Dakar. The rains began falling in much of the country around the 13 August, it added.
