Government bans child labour in mines

    NAIROBI
    The Tanzanian government has banned the employment of children in mining areas, 'The Guardian' newspaper reported. Under the new regulations, which came into effect on Tuesday, a person holding a primary mining licence "shall not cause children below the age of 16 to be employed or engaged in any mining or processing operations in his primary mining licence area," the paper quoted the government as saying.
