French soldier killed

    NAIROBI
    Meanwhile, a French soldier was killed guarding the French embassy in Brazzaville yesterday (Thursday). He was fatally wounded in an exchange of gunfire in the Bacongo neighbourhood, a French foreign ministry statement said. Meanwhile, electrical power was restored yesterday to Pointe-Noire after government forces recaptured a power station some 200 km east of the southern city, Radio France Internationale reported. Rebel militia had occupied the Bouenza power station since early January.
