بدأت اليونان تلحق بركب إيطاليا بسرعة باعتبارها المدخل الرئيسي للمهاجرين وطالبي اللجوء إلى أوروبا.
ويأتي الآن 600 شخص في المتوسط كل يوم إلى الشاطئ الواقع في شرق بحر إيجه حيث وصل ما مجموعه 42,000 شخص حتى الآن في عام 2015، أي بزيادة ستة أضعاف عن العام الماضي.
زارت شبكة الأنباء الإنسانية (إيرين) جزيرة ليسفوس حيث تصل القوارب المطاطية التي تحمل طالبي اللجوء، ومعظمهم من سوريا، بشكل يومي إلى شواطئها وتزيد من الضغوط لتوفير الغذاء والمأوى.
