    Harare’s main hospitals are to keep their mortuaries open around the clock to deal with the AIDS-related death toll, the official ‘The Herald’ newspaper reported on Tuesday.
    The new 24-hour mortuary facilities at Harare and Parirenyatwa hospitals are due to begin in August. Zimbabwe’s death rate now stands at an average of 340 people per day, about 240 of them from AIDS-related diseases, the newspaper said. Recent statistics from the National AIDS Coordination Programme suggest that by the end of the year, 80,000 people will have died from AIDS.
