The defence ministers from Namibia and Zambia met in Windhoek on Thursday to discuss security matters between the two as well as regional conflicts on the sub-continent. The two men reiterated their countries support for the UN sanctions against the UNITA rebel movement, as well as supporting the OAU and SADC initiatives to resolve the war in Angola. They blamed UNITA for the collapse of the peace process with the Namibian defence minister Erikki Nghimtina quoted as saying: "As a result, the UN and the region have been left with no other option than to condemn and isolate Jonas Savimbi, the UNITA leader and his UNITA rebel group."
