Inquiry into police raids

    ABIDJAN

    President John Kufuor has directed Interior Minister Malik al-Hassan Yakubu to investigate three recent cases of alleged police wrongdoing where military and police personnel raided the homes of civilians, ‘Daily Graphic’ reported on Thursday.

    The home of the national organiser of the EGLE party, Alhaji Seidu, and the palace of the ruler of the Sefwi Wiawso local community were both raided. Another team of military personnel stripped a resident of Damongo, in the Northern Region, then searched the home, the Accra daily reported. The newspaper did not say what the police and troops were looking for nor if they had search warrants. However, the Ghana News Agency reported that such raids have been numerous lately.
