Nine killed in Delta clashes

    ABIDJAN

    Nine people died and over 30 wounded in southern Nigeria’s Delta State following clashes between members of the Odimodi and Ogulagha communities, ‘The Guardian’ reported.

    Youths from the two communities exchanged gunfire following the alleged interception of a convoy of boats carrying Ogulagha youths on a fighting expedition to Odimodi, the Lagos daily reported. The communities are in conflict over the ownership of an oil field from which a petroleum firm is presently operating, the newspaper reported. Several houses were razed in April during a clash between the two communities that left one person dead.
