Japan helps fight Guinea Worm

    ABIDJAN

    Japan has handed over to Burkina Faso 258 water wells which it built for the West African country under its “Water supply to eradicate Guinea Worm” project, the Japan Embassy said in a statement faxed to IRIN on Friday. The US $12-million project, which started in 1998, has equipped 10 provinces with wells to provide people with safe drinking water, the most important factor in preventing Guinea Worm.
