Mkapa, Museveni holds talks

Tanzanian President Benjamin Mkapa on Tuesday held two hours of talks with his Ugandan counterpart, Yoweri Museveni, in Kampala, a press release from Museveni’s press office said. Museveni told journalists after the meeting that the consultative discussions had centred on bilateral and regional issues, and particularly “the way forward in Burundi and the conflict in the DRC”. Mkapa, for his part, said their talks concerned the promotion of peace in the Great Lakes region, and that “they are still trying to explore possible ways of resolving some of the intractable problems in the region”.
