Health professionals begin strike

    ABIDJAN

    Nigeria’s health practitioners started a nationwide strike on Monday to press the government into paying salaries and allowances owed to them, ‘The Guardian’ reported on Tuesday. The strike has been widely followed in Lagos and Abuja, where even emergency wards were affected, the daily reported. The government is due to meet heads of medical institutions and officials of the Nigerian Medical Association on Thursday, the newspaper reported.
