Unidentified illness claims 22 lives

    ABIDJAN
    An unidentified illness has claimed the lives of at least 22 people in a village in Niger, state television reported. Forty-seven cases have been reported in the town of Nadara, some 600 km north of the capital, Niamey, in the Tahoua region. Most of the victims have been women. The illness is characterized by stomach bloating and intense vomiting. Initial tests to identify it have been inconclusive.
