Security Council expresses concern

    NAIROBI

    The UN Security Council on Tuesday expressed its continued concern about the situation in Burundi, a statement issued after a closed-door meeting said. Council members condemned the ongoing violence in the country and reiterated their call on all armed groups which remained outside the peace process to cease hostilities and to participate in peace efforts. The Council encouraged donor countries preparing for a mid-December donor conference in Paris to consider how best to “alleviate the urgent humanitarian and economic needs of the population in the country”.
