Aydid warns of renewed fighting

    NAIROBI

    Mogadishu faction leader Husayn Aydid has again warned that the outcome of the Arta conference in Djibouti, at which Somalia’s transitional government was formed, would be renewed fighting in Somalia, pro-Aydid ‘Radio Mogadishu’ reported on Monday. Aydid met with ambassadors from the US, China, Egypt, Uganda, and Italy in the Yemeni capital Sanaa on Saturday, 25 November, according to the same report. Aydid said there was no government in Somalia, and accused Djibouti of implementing the Arta conference. He also accused Djibouti and Sudan of stopping the faction leaders from reconciling [presumably by supporting the transitional government].
