President condemns attack

    ABIDJAN

    Liberian President Charles Taylor has condemned an attack on former President Amos Sawyer and a leading human rights advocate at the offices of their pro-democracy organisation, the Center for Democratic Empowerment (CEDE), BBC reported. BBC said Taylor offered to meet Sawyer, who said he was beaten in the attack. The executive director of CEDE, Conmany Wesseh, was also beaten. He is an active campaigner against the proliferation of light arms in the region. Police arrested several people after the attack.
