A new Prime Minister has taken office in the Comoro Islands after the previous cabinet was unexpectedly dissolved, PANA reported on Friday. The new Prime minister, Ahmed Amadi, was the director of the president’s office and the architect of the continuing negotiations with the secessionist island of Anjouan. Officials say Amadi’s appointment as prime minister was designed to give new impetus to the negotiations, which were not widely supported by the people of the Comoro Islands.
