Verdict on Bulgarian HIV trial postponed

    A Libyan criminal court postponed its verdict in the trial of six Bulgarian medics and a Palestinian doctor charged with infecting children with HIV, Reuters reported on Thursday. They were charged with infecting 426 Libyan children with blood products contaminated with HIV at a hospital in the coastal city of Benghazi. Court officials said the verdict would now be delivered on 6 May as one of the judges had fallen ill. The prosecutor is seeking the death penalty for the five women and two men, who were detained in 1999 in the capital, Tripoli.
