An attack this week on two villages near the city of Lubango in Angola’s southern Huila province left 10 dead, Lusa reported on Thursday. According to Lusa, suspected UNITA rebels infiltrated the villages at night and opened fire on homes. It added that 30 victims were taken to a hospital in Lubango. The region returned to government control in March. Last week UNITA claimed responsibility for an attack on a passenger train east of Luanda that reportedly claimed 252 lives. Meanwhile, the Angolan government said that it had killed 35 UNITA soldiers and captured another 24 this month.
