Nigerian police team to help disengagement

    NAIROBI

    Nigeria will send a 20-member police team to monitor the disengagement of foreign troops from the DRC, Radio Nigeria from Kaduna announced at the weekend. It quoted Nigeria’s minister of state for foreign affaires Dubem Onyia as saying that the request for the team was made by DRC’s minister for justice when he went to Nigeria recently. Onyia said that Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo had already directed the inspector-general of police to make the team available. He said that Obasanjo was interested in “ensuring that conflicts in Africa, especially the west African sub region, were resolved through dialogue”.
