Measles vaccination underway

    NAIROBI

    The local health department in the northeastern province of Muyinga is organising a measles vaccination campaign from 19 March to 6 April for all children aged between six months and 15 years, the Agence burundaise de presse (ABP) reported. It cited provincial doctor Olivier Basenya as saying 205,899 children would be vaccinated in 42 health centres following an outbreak of measles in Muyinga. Sixty-one cases were recorded in the province last year, ABP said. It added that in the neighbouring province of Karuzi, 185,714 children had been selected for vaccination against measles.
