Namibian forces cross into Angola in hot pursuit of UNITA

    JOHANNESBURG

    Namibia's military forces recently entered the Mucusso region inside Angola's Cuando Cubango Province in a "hot pursuit" operation against suspected UNITA rebels, 'Noticias de Angola' said this week. The report said the incursion followed a rebel attack along the Namibian border last week by suspected UNITA members, during which four civilians were killed and five others kidnapped. Namibian military officials were quoted as saying that the operation did not violate any international law because of an accord between the two countries which allows for cross border operations against UNITA rebels by the Namibians and Angolans.
