Kazakhstan is experiencing steady economic growth, a spokesman for the Kazakh embassy’s economic and commercial division in Islamabad told IRIN. From mid last year the economy had been strengthening, with industrial production up 16 percent on the previous year and agricultural production by 5.5 percent, Tleuzhan Seksenbayev told IRIN.
Seksenbayev attributed the steady growth to the improved situation in world trade markets. “These figures reflect the good situation in external markets and the re-establishing of trade links for production and manufacturing sectors among the CIS [Commonwealth of Independent States] countries.”
Kazakh Prime Minister Kasymzhomart Tokayev said in the capital Astana on Tuesday that Kazakhstan was holding steadily onto the lead in wages among CIS countries. However, despite “good” macroeconomic figures the government intended to step up measures to maintain the stability of Kazakhstan’s economy and reduce the risk factors arising from the situation in the world commodity markets, a BBC report said.
