The European Union (EU) will finance a four-year, US $9.6-million project to improve Mali’s public health sector, an official source told IRIN on Tuesday. The fund will improve Malians’ access to quality care and drugs, the EU’s advisor on health in Bamako, Patrick Maillart, said. The agreement was signed in Bamako on 16 January by the head of the EU delegation, Francesco Gosetti Di Sturneck, and Mali’s minister of foreign affairs, Modibo Sidibe.
