Malawian President Bakili Muluzi has dismissed threats by the opposition to boycott parliament this week, accusing his opponents of being ndemocratic, news reports said.
Muluzi was quoted as saying that since he took power six years ago, the opposition has always been critical of his government. The opposition said it would boycott Muluzi's budget speech in parliament and that it did not recognise Muluzi as president because he did not obtain an outright majority in last year's elections.
