Peace process on track, Sassou says

    ABIDJAN

    President Denis Sassou-Nguesso last week expressed confidence that the country's peace process was on track, paving the way for reconstruction and future elections, Angolan state radio reported. "Peace prevails throughout the country," Sassou said at a news conference on 20 April at the end of a visit to the Angolan capital Luanda, where he held talks with President Jose Eduardo dos Santos. "We think that within a few months, we
    will be in full control of the Congolese territory, the administration and the public force," he stated. Sassou said a committee was now drafting a new constitution, and a socio-economic development programme would be implemented over a three-year period. "We have been holding talks with the World Bank and the IMF," he said. Meanwhile, Dos Santos described
    relations between the two countries as "excellent", the radio said.
