Committee Two in the Arusha peace talks on Burundi reconvened on Monday to continue its deliberations on good governance and democracy, according to an official of the Nyerere Foundation supporting the peace process. The aim was to wrap up issues on the constitution, the transitional government and the electoral process, an official told IRIN. The meeting is expected
to meet throughout this week. Committees one and four - the former dealing with the nature of conflict and the latter with economic reconstruction and the return of refugees - had "more or less finished" their deliberations, he noted. There were still issues around peace and security to be discussed by committee three next month, but the newly established committee five,charged with providing for the implementation of any peace
agreement that emerges would meet next week, the official added.
