MDC targets economy

Meanwhile, MDC said on Wednesday its main priority on winning legislative elections in May would be the economy. "The focus of the ZANU-PF government is on peripheral issues - land, the role of the white business and farming community ... The real issues are rapidly rising prices, stagnant incomes and deteriorating social services," an MDC statement said.

It said that Zimbabwe urgently needed to get stalled donor aid programmes back on course and a sustained reduction in government expenditure. MDC said Zimbabwe's woes were partly as a result of mismanagement and "corruption on a massive scale".
