The government has released 2.37 billion naira (US $ 24.4 million) for the first phase of the Prisons Reform Special Rehabilitation Programme, `The Guardian' reported.
Internal Affairs Minister Sunday Afolabi, who announced the news, said the amount was being utilised for the rehabilitation of existing prisons, sewerage systems, provision of drinking water, drugs, supply of items for prisons' stores and establishment of cottage industries.
