General Assembly invites support for democracy conference

    NAIROBI
    The UN General Assembly on Monday asked the Secretary-General, member states, the UN system and other inter-governmental organisations to collaborate in holding a democracy conference in Cotonou in December 2000. The UN said that the Fourth International Conference of New and Restored Democracies is to have as its theme "Democracy, Peace, Security and Development."
