Zimbabwe denies its troops are fighting in Angola

Zimbabwean Defence Minister Moven Mahachi has denied South African news reports alleging that Harare had sent soldiers to Angola to fight alongside government forces against the UNITA rebel movement, according to official radio reports monitored by the BBC on Thursday.

The reports said Mahachi had issued the denial during a visit to Angola this week. Earlier in the week, the Angolan government also denied the reports, saying “they were designed to deprive FAA forces of their merit in recent military victories”.
