Land allocated to women

The Zambian government has said it will give up to 10 percent of future land allocations to women as a way of economically empowering them, AIA news service reported on Friday. It said the debate on land tenure for women had been reopened by Lands Minister Samuel Miyanda, after he had heard complans from women farmers. But, the report said, some womens’ groups were seeking up to 50 percent of the land allocations.
