Defence chiefs to discuss measures to curb wars

African defence and security officials are to meet in Swaziland on Wednesday to discuss conflicts in the region and measures to contain them, news reports said on Tuesday.

According to the reports, the two-day talks of intelligence and military commanders from the 14-nation Southern African Development Community (SADC) will be dominated by wars in Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). "The meeting will bring all SADC commanders together to evaluate and see how the military situations in Angola and the Congo can be contained," a South African official was quoted as saying.
