AIDS education campaign

    The Mozambican government, through funding from the United Nations, is to launch an intensive HIV/AIDS education campaign aimed at the country's youth, news reports said on Friday.

    The campaign, according to the country's deputy health minister, Abdul Razak, would supplement existing anti-AIDS programmes among other sectors of Mozambican society, the reports added. "We will only beat this scourge if we ensure that it is on the tip of everyone's tongues everyday of the year," Razak said.

    Razak was also quoted as saying an estimated 10 to 15 percent of youths in Mozambique between the ages of 15 and 25 years were already HIV positive. "We have to change people's basic attitudes but have to also ensure that people remain positive and supportive even to those who already have the disease," Razak said.
