Former fighters trained in peace-building

    ABIDJAN

    World Vision International has completed a three-week training course in peace-building for about 80 former combatants and war-affected young people.

    World Vision said the participants now have greater skills to promote recovery and reconciliation after completing the Youth Reintegration and Education for Peace Programme.

    The participants included former Revolutionary United Front rebels and ex-combatants from the Civil Defence Forces, a pro-government militia.
    Among them were those who had voluntarily surrendered their weapons in January to troops from the UN Mission in Sierra Leone at the disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration camp in the eastern town of Daru.
