UNDP urges better HIV/AIDS commitment

    JOHANNESBURG

    The UN Development Programme (UNDP) in Ghana has called for strengthened efforts from all stakeholders in tackling HIV/AIDS.

    UNDP resident representative, Alfred Salia Fawuda, told reporters during the second session of the organisation's HIV/AIDS leadership development programme that this could ensure the country's 3.6 percent HIV/AIDS prevalence rate did not rise beyond that figure.

    Fawuda said: "With committed efforts there should be no way the rate should go beyond 3.6 percent."

    Urging Ghanaians to find better ways of reversing the infection rate Fawuda said "no amount of donor support can stop the spread of the disease if people are not committed."
