President on trade with China

President Ismail Omar Gelleh said on a visit to Beijing, China, that he hoped to improve economic and trade cooperation between Djibouti and China. Gelleh said on Wednesday he hoped the two countries could cooperate in the making of construction materials, the development of perlite (glass), salt products, and shipping services, the official Chinese news agency Xinhua said. Chinese firms have also explored investment opportunities in the building of a pharmaceutical factory, a cement plant, and establishing jeep assembly lines in Djibouti, Xinhua said. Gelleh made the remarks during a speech at the China-Djibouti Economic and Trade Seminar in Beijing, attended by about 100 Chinese and Djibouti entrepreneurs.
