France cancels Zambia’s US $122 million debt

    JOHANNESBURG
    France has with immediate effect cancelled Zambia’s US $122 million debt following Zambia’s attainment of High Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) status last year, ‘The Times of Zambia’ said on Friday. The newspaper quoted an embassy statement as saying that “100 percent of all trade-related bilateral debt service flows, eligible to the Paris Club, are to be cancelled for all countries as soon as they reach the HIPC decision point”.
