Chiluba calls for more DRC peace efforts

    ABIDJAN

    Zambian President Frederick Chiluba on Tuesday urged other African leaders to help find a lasting solution to the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), AFP reported. Chiluba said he was happy that efforts were already underway to jump start the never-implemented Lusaka peace accord, as shown by recent summits in Libya and Mozambique. “About three months ago I circulated a letter encouraging such efforts and I am proud and happy to see that something is being done,” Chiluba told journalists on the sidelines of a donor conference in the Zambian capital, Lusaka.

    “There is no departure from the Lusaka agreement. Everything which is being done is within the Lusaka peace process framework,” Chiluba said.
