Chiluba committed to Congo peace

    NAIROBI

    Congo mediator, Zambian President Frederick Chiluba said on Thursday he was working round the clock to try to kick-start a peace process in the Congo as rebels warned of an imminent fresh round of fighting.

    In a Reuters interview Chiluba said: “The priority is to try and get the peace process back on track. And this involves talking to the government of President (Laurent) Kabila, to the United Nations and to the rebels as well as Rwanda and Uganda.” “All these things need the cooperation and goodwill of the government and that is why I will be talking to them,” he added.
