Ethiopia should be ready for war - Meles

Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said that it was important to be prepared for war with the latest technology. He made the remarks at a graduation ceremony at Debre Zeit military training institute on Saturday, Ethiopian television reported. “We prepare not the for the past war, but for the future war...the preparation should be one that gives priority to the production of manpower that catches up with the changes in technology, because it is inevitable that war in the future will change in accordance with time’s technology,” he said. The graduation ceremony was also attended by Ethiopian chief of staff, Lieutenant General Tsadkan Gebretensae, who said the armed forces should be “ready for war to prevent any force from trying to dampen our people’s desire and vision”. The training institution was established in Debre Zeit, a major military airbase about 70 km southeast of Addis Ababa, four years ago.
