AIDS Threatens SA education

    NAIROBI

    South African teachers are said to be dying of AIDS-related illnesses at a rate of 10 a month, South African news reports said on Thursday.

    The South African Democratic Teachers Union quoted a study which found that of the 700 deaths recorded from August last year until May this year, 100 teachers had died of HIV-related infections. The union’s spokesman Hassen Lorgat says the disease was most prevalent among young teachers.
