Concern over abducted MDC supporter

    NAIROBI

    Human rights watchdog Amnesty International has called on Zimbabwe’s ruling ZANU-PF of President Robert Mugabe to clarify the whereabouts of Patrick Nabanyama - a supporter of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) - who was abducted from his home on 19 June, media reports said.

    Maina Kiai, Amnesty’s Director for Africa, said: “The state-sponsored terror that characterised the run-up to the elections should not be allowed to continue. The whereabouts of Patrick Nabanyama must be clarified and his safety guaranteed.”

    Patrick Nabanyama was abducted in Bulawayo on the afternoon of 19 June by a group of liberation war veterans in the presence of his wife and children.
