Rebels attack capital

    NAIROBI

    Rebels on Monday attacked the Burundian capital Bujumbura, killing three civilians, according to Reuters news agency. The villages around the capital had been calm in recent months after the army responded to rebel attacks last year by regrouping thousands of people into camps. The Burundian government fears new assaults on Bujumbura in the coming weeks due to the charged political atmosphere likely to be created by the Arusha negotiations.
