CNSP announces meeting with political parties

Cote d’Ivoire’s ruling junta, the Conseil National de Salut Public (CNSP) was scheduled to meet the representatives of political parties on Wednesday afternoon, radio stations reported. The meeting comes one day after Information Minister Henri Sama charged that soldiers involved in a protest since Tuesday were manipulated by politicians. Similarly, CNSP leader Robert Guei told the protesters in a televised address on Tuesday: “I think it’s better not to serve as political instruments for politicians”. Neither named any party or politician, but their statements came less than two months after Guei accused the Rassemblement des Republicains (RDR), led by ex-Prime Minister Alassane Dramane Ouattara, of plotting against the government.
